Making a Yeast Starter 
First take 4-6 ounces of malt extract, add it to a quart of water, boil for 15 minutes, then cool to 70F.  I'm using an ice bath in the sink.  Foil or a lid while cooling is recommended.

While the wort is cooling be sure you have everything you'll use sanitizing.  Here I half my half gallon container, oxygen stone and line, and funnel in starsan.

My starter container is just a glass half gallon milk bottle.  Some starsan foam is still in the bottom and thats fine.

Using the sanitized funnel, add the cooled wort and yeast to the container.

I oxygenate the starter for 30 seconds, but you can also shake vigorously.

Cover with sanitized foil and let ferment for a day or two.  Refridgerate if not using soon.  Optionally pour off most of the liquid, stir up the yeast slurry, and pitch cold.
